What's up folks! Back again with another review. An actual one this time round lol!

So today I'm going to review the Selens 168 led video light that I got off ebay at $35SGD. The reason why I got it off ebay was because I just couldn't justify the price of local stores/sellers that are selling at ~$50 and on top of that I'm in no hurry to get my hands on the product. Shipping was fast, received it around 1 week after payment.

Here are the specs of the video light:

Luminous : 1080 Voltage: 5.5 - 9V Rated Current: 2A Color temperature: 5600K / 3200K Lifespan: up to 50,000 hours size: 151 x 100 x 56mm weight: 300g Runtime(Estimated): 6 pcs AA(2600 mAh) about 90 mins LP-E6(1800 mAh) about 50 mins EN-EL15(1900 mAh) about 55 mins

Package : LED-168 5500K Diffuser 3200K Diffuser 3 Battery Adapter (Panasonic CGR D-16/Nikon EN-EL 15/Canon LP-E6) Shoe Mount Stand(with one 1/4 hole) Connecting Mount

The reason why I chose this compared to other brand of led lights was because

1) It's cheap

2) Portable (Able to run on different type of batteries)

3) Versatile (Dimmable and it is able to connect multiple lights via connecting mount)

So let's bring the light to the test!

All photos were shot at

1/60 Sec f/4.5 ISO 100

1) Natural Light on the left, Led light off

2) Led light set at 50%

3) Led Light at 100%

Orange Diffuser 100%

We definitely saw some significant light loss after adding the diffuser. I wouldn't recommend this light for outdoors as the sun will definitely overpower it unless u place it really near your subject for some fill light.

Here's an example:

Shot at 1/320s f/3.2 ISO 100

Light was placed on the camera left at 100% with a 5500K orange diffuser as a fill light.

Summary:

Pros

1) Portable

2) Versatile

3) Great for indoors with low light

4) Constant light

5) Good deal for cheapos like u and me :)

Cons

1) Made from cheap plastic (Might break apart if dropped)

2) Power of the light is not strong enough for outdoors

Well, what would u expect from a $35 light? I would say it did it's job for the price you paid. You can always buy another one if you wrecked it because it's cheap!

Here's my final Geisha shot:

That's it for this review cheers!
